Absolutely NO MESS cleaning. By using special drop cloths and HEPA filters in our vacuums, we insure a mess free and dust free cleaning every time.
Chim Chimney offers 2 levels of chimney inspections.
TYPE 1 INSPECTION
A type I inspection involves a visual inspection performed by a certified technician after the flue has been thoroughly cleaned. Our inspectors will view the chimney by looking up through the flue from the bottom with a strong light. This process is then repeated from the top of the chimney. This type of inspection should uncover most flue issues. We include this service with every chimney cleaning.
TYPE II INSPECTION
Type II inspections involve inspecting the chimney flue with a video inspection system. This is the most accurate inspection performed by our inspectors. During this inspection, a camera is either lowered down or raised up through the flue. A monitor allows the inspector to view the condition of the internal walls of the entire flue. This helps inspectors to find any and all problems in the flue and the exact location of those problems.
CHIMNEY CAPS AND DAMPERS
At Chim Chimney we offer a large assortment of chimney caps for both single and multi flue chimneys.
Caps prevent rain, debris and animals from entering your chimney flue. Without a cap, rain can enter your chimney and mix with creosote. This mixture turns into a highly corrosive acid that can severely damage your flue and create an unpleasant odor in your home.
Dampers save energy! A fireplace without a damper is like having a window in your home open year round. A damper regulates the draft in a chimney flue, therefore, saving you money in energy cost every year.
MASONARY REPAIRS
Deteriorating brickwork weakens the chimney's integrity and allows cold drafts, water and insects to invade your home.
Penetrating moisture weakens the mortar that bonds the masonry units together. This can cause deterioration and displacement of your brickwork rendering your chimney useless and unsafe to burn.
Chim Chimney crews will replace the existing failing mortar with new mortar to match the original masonary texture and color as closely as possible.
A crown is a cement slab that sits on tope of your chimney and protects the brick and mortar joints beneath it.
All crowns will crack in time from expansion and contraction, settlement and poor construction. Having a cracked crown will cause your chimney to leak and the deterioration of brick and mortar joints.
FLUE RELINING
Use of a fireplace or furnace that vents into a damaged liner can result in the loss of property or life.
Flue fires occur thousands of times a year due to defective chimney liners. Excessive heat or a small spark flitter through a crack in your liner can cause an unwanted home fire. Annual inspection of your chimney flue can prevent these types of disasters.
WATERPROOFING
Experts agree that the durability of masonary depends primarily on its resistance to water penetration. Water damage can cause dimensional damage, efflorescence, freeze-thaw spalling, damage to interior finishes and ultimately, structural failure. We can treat your chimney with a specially formulated chimney water repellent that actually sheds water when it rains.
ANIMAL REMOVAL
At Chim Chimney, we can remove any type of animal that has taken up residence on your chimney. Our animal removal process is safe, humane and we return all animals removed from your house to their natural habitat.
These guys may be cute, but they don't belong in your chimney! Raccoons, squirrels and various species of birds may try to make their home in your chimney. Beside making it impossible to use, these creatures may bring other unwanted visitors such as lice, fleas and flies. Diseases such as rabies, roundworm and histoplasmosis can also be spread through your home.
DRYER VENT CLEANING
There are as many as 15,500 dryer vent fires per year. That means that there are more dryer vent fires each year than flue fires.
When a dryer vent becomes clogged from trapped lint or becomes inhabited by small animals, the efficiency and airflow of your dryer is reduced. This increases the rise of fire and escalates your energy bill. If your dryer is not working like is used to, and your clothes are taking longer to dry, odds are you have trapped lint in your dryer exhaust system. A professional from Chim Chimney can clean your dryer vent to improve your dryer's performance and save you money.
